Terry Clark Hughes Jr. 39

Terry Clark Hughes Jr. killed these brave officers. Democrat policies caused this. It wasn’t the gun, it was the criminal. Democrats like you advocate for criminals to be let out on bail when they should be behind bars. Families are grieving today & it’s Democrat’s fault. Own it.

Praying for CMPD and the officers who were killed. This is so unbelievably sad. And Mayor Vi Lyles was visibly shaken by this.

Elected leaders, meanwhile, asked the community to come together.

“I am deeply saddened by the shooting that occurred,” Vi Lyles, Charlotte’s mayor, said on X. “I ask that all Charlotteans keep them, and the other injured officers, and their families in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”

On Monday, President Joe Biden spoke with Lyles to express his condolences and support for the community.
