Surgeon general advisory: Parents need mental health support amid youth crisis

Before some time, I have written the above post when there are lot of news are coming from the world about “voilence increasing”. I had shared my thought on this. Why is voilence increasing? What are the basic cause of this? And How can we stop this? What are our responsibilities to prevent this in our society? Everything I  had covered in that post. Right now, Again one news coming that US Surgeon general Dr. Vivek Murthy called for warning labels on social media to protect youth mental health. You can also check out this news here.

In this news, I am going to share my thought on the same. This type of news open the lock of my mind and intellect. Why the US Surgeon general had to talk about this topic. This is the emergency issue of our society and needs very much attention to resolve this issues. We have to start this awareness from our schools. Before some time, the following news also has come in which New York Gov. Kathy Hochul seeks to ban smartphones in schools because of addictive nature. We can understand where is the problem.

Parenting Is Daunting.

Dr. Vivek Murthy, the U.S. surgeon general was telling and sharing his statement giving reference to his statement about young people’s mental health in 2021. He said that he warned about this in 2021 about the dangers of social media, isolation and gun violence.

He acknowledged about the silent struggles of parents face when they are trying to care for their children in 2024. I had discussed the same in my above post that what are the basic reasons for this? Amoung those basic reasons, this is also one of them. Children will learn as their parents do. The vibrations of parents have an impact on their children.

Dr. Vivek Murthy, the U.S. surgeon general talked about the same and said that parents and care takers both need support and training.

He also announced that he would push for a warning label like those that appear on tobacco and alcohol products. Social media platform advising parents that using the social media platform might get mental health issues.

You can think your own as a human being. In which society, we are living. What kind of time has come that we have to issue warnings even on social media platforms like tobacco. It means, that the mental health issues are increasing due to mobile and social media. That the U.S. surgeon general had to say about this coming further.

“This is one of those silent struggles that many parents are contending with,” Murthy, a father of a 7-year-old and a 6-year-old, told. “My hope is that we can shine a light on something that’s affecting millions of people across the country.”

He said, the stress levels are increasing amoung parents. He shared the data also and said more than 3 in 5 parents said no one understand their stress. He shared many resolutions and awareness program which should be conducted. You can read full interview here.
