Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen left the field on a stretcher after sustaining a knee injury in a 5-1 win over Villarreal in the Spanish league on Sunday.

Barca’s medics quickly called for the stretcher and the goalkeeper was taken off to add to Hansi Flick’s injury problems.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta said the injury seemed to be a torn ligament but more tests would be conducted. Local media reports said Ter Stegen went from the stadium to the hospital in an ambulance, and left the hospital in a wheelchair.

Ter stegen injury update today
Ter Stegen more or less OUT for the season, he’s suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee. Surgery soon.
“This injury makes us sad. I think the injury will be huge but we have to wait for more information,” Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said. “We have to accept it. It’s not easy. It was an accident. It’s very tough.”
He was taken to hospital in an ambulance after going off, with Barca waiting now for an update on his condition.

“Ter Stegen has suffered a very serious injury to the patellar tendon of his right knee. He already suffered from this same injury in 2020 and in 2021 he underwent surgery in Sweden.”
