Rodrigo Bentancur has gone off with a very curious injury – went to head the ball, fell down to the ground did not stand up. Hoping desperately it’s nothing serious.
He just can’t catch a break with injuries. Since the start of 2023 it’s been one after another.
“I don’t want to speculate because I don’t really know either,” Ange Postecoglou told reporters when asked what exactly Bentancur had done. “All I know is he was conscious when he came off. Obviously it was some sort of head injury, but he was conscious when he was coming off the field.

Rodrigo Bentancur Injury Update
“And he’s been taken to the hospital for observation. But I’m not really clear on how it happened. Unless I get a doctor out here, I’m not going to speculate because it’s just not fair on people around him.
“Obviously, I don’t have all the information, but from where I’m standing, he is conscious,” Postecoglou said. “He was conscious going off to the dressing rooms.”
While his comments provided some reassurance, Postecoglou confirmed that Bentancur was sent to the hospital for a more thorough evaluation. “He’ll get checked over, and we’ll know more soon,” he added.
