Mikkelsen clarifies rally-ending CER crash
Andreas Mikkelsen had a big crash in SS5 and will perhaps retire from the event. (Crew ok).
SS5 was extremely smoothie with a lot of humidity and a lot of fallen leaves on the road.
Neuville took the lead in SS5 from Ogier, Tänak third, Evans fourth and Katsuta dropped to fifth due to a mistake in a braking point.

WRC Central European Rally 2024
A fourth WRC outing of 2024 with Hyundai led to an early retirement – this is why
Andreas Mikkelsen has self-confessed it was his own mistake in tricky conditions that caused him to crash out of the Central European Rally on Friday morning.
Mikkelsen had suffered a loss of hybrid power on the previous stage and had been stressed to judge grip levels all morning in damp conditions.
Having been third overnight, seemingly happier with the set-up on his Hyundai i20 N Rally1, Mikkelsen slithered to sixth after Friday’s opening two stages, 21.8s off the pace.
He said “I was too much on the careful side… you can drive much faster than you think, so we just have to adjust.”
“I just slid off the road,” Mikkelsen told “Very tricky conditions, and a tough stage. This left-hander was just a bit more slippier than I anticipated and I just slid off into the fence. And the fence was like a proper fence, as you can see, so too much damage on the car to continue.
“It was difficult [to judge the level of grip available], especially this stage as well where there was not really a lot of anti-cuts. So very difficult with the road position.
