Rick Buckler Cause of Death: Rick Buckler, drummer for The Jam dies at 69

Rick Buckler, Drummer for The Jam, Dies at 69
The Jam was known for hit songs “Going Underground” and “That’s Entertainment”

From that first strike of the snare 5 seconds in on Art School in 1977 to those fading snares at the end of The Gift in 1982 you drummed the soundtrack to our adolescence & we’ll be forever grateful..

I’m deeply saddened at the news of the passing of Rick Buckler, my sincere condolences go to his family at this difficult time.

From our rudimentary beginnings the band evolved into the powerful force that it became…

In a statement, Buckler’s family called him a “loving husband, father and grandfather” who was “devoted to many” and will be “greatly missed.”

Buckler “passed away peacefully on Monday evening in Woking after a short illness with family by his side.” The news of his death comes weeks after Buckler had to “take a break” from his spoken word tour “due to ongoing health issues,” per Facebook.

Buckler’s bandmates also spoke out about his death. In several posts shared to X, singer and guitarist Paul Weller wrote: “I’m shocked and saddened by Rick’s passing. I’m thinking back to us all rehearsing in my bedroom in Stanley Road, Woking,” he said.

“To all the pubs and clubs we played at as kids, to eventually making a record. What a journey! We went far beyond our dreams and what we made stands the test of time.”

No cause of death has been revealed, but his management company and family said he had faced “a short illness” prior to his death.

He is survived by wife Leslie and children Jason and Holly.
