James Earl Carter Jr. was born on October 1, 1924, he was an American politician and humanitarian who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981.
Carter was a member of the Democratic Party who served from 1963 to 1967 in the Georgia State Senate and from 1971 to 1975 as the 76th governor of Georgia. He was the longest-lived president in U.S. history and the first to live to 100 years of age.

Biden declared Jan. 9 a National Day of Mourning in the wake of late former President Jimmy Carter’s death.
Carter will be laid to rest at his house in Plains, Georgia, next to his wife in a burial plot they chose together.
The Carter Center confirmed his death, saying he died peacefully at his home in Plains, surrounded by his family. He was the longest-lived president in U.S. history.
