Rinus VeeKay crashes in qualifying for Indy 500

Racer Rinus VeeKay had a memorable Saturday, he has suffered the first crash of the day during Saturday’s Indianapolis 500 qualifications at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during day one of qualifying for the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500.

VeeKay was the fourth qualifier of the day. And during his first qualifying attempt, As you can see in video he crashed into the Turn 3 wall. According to Yahoo Kyle Larson’s four-lap average speed of 232.563 mph was the sixth-fastest during the first day of Indianapolis 500 qualifying. As VeeKay was making Turn 3 in his first qualifying lap, he lost control of his No. 21 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet Car. The two wheels on the left side of the car were dislodged, and VeeKay exited the car with a bit of a limp.

“It was fine on entry, everything was fine, and then I just got a huge snap,” VeeKay said after the car crash. “I’ve never been close to having a snap like that here on this speedway, so I tried to save it but couldn’t catch it anymore.”
